FORWARD THINKING
Question
I don’t have enough time, how can I get more of it?
My Perspective
We all encounter those little pockets of time—waiting for a meeting to start, standing in line, or during your morning commute. Often, we default to scrolling through social media or mindlessly browsing the web, simply trying to kill time. But what if we flipped the script and turned these moments into opportunities for growth and productivity?
The space between your larger tasks can be a goldmine of potential. It’s the perfect time to knock out a quick task that’s been lingering on your to-do list, catch up on some reading, or even learn something new. Instead of seeing these moments as wasted, start recognizing them as chances to get ahead.
If you know me, you’ve likely heard me talk about the importance of “intentionality.” Being intentional with these unexpected slots of time can be incredibly rewarding.
Imagine what you could accomplish if you dedicated just a few of these small windows each day to something productive. You might finally get around to reading that book that’s been on your list for months, or you could use the time to brainstorm ideas for your next project. Even five or ten minutes can add up to something significant over time.
Try keeping a list of quick tasks that can be done in under ten minutes, or have a book or article ready to go on your phone. By planning ahead, you can ensure that when you do have those in-between moments, you’re ready to make the most of them.
Productivity isn’t just about the big blocks of time you set aside for work. It’s also about how you use the smaller moments in your day. Turn the space between into opportunities to grow, learn, and get things done, and you’ll find yourself accomplishing more than you ever thought possible.
Life is precious, and it’s made up of time. None of us can afford to waste it. Let’s use our time wisely, for our benefit and the benefit of others, instead of letting precious minutes slip away.
